Problems On Isometric Projections
Problems On Isometric Projections
1 ] Projections of frustum of the pentagonal pyramid are given, draw it's isometric view.
Solution Steps:
- First draw isometric of its base.
- Then draw the same shape as a top, 60mm above the base pentagon center.
- Then reduce the top to 20mm sides and join with the proper base corners.
2 ] Projections of a frustum of the cone is given, draw it's isometric view.
Solution Steps:
- First draw isometric of its base.
- Then draw the same shape as a top, 60mm above the base pentagon center.
- Then reduce the top to 20mm sides and join with the proper base corners.
3 ] A square pyramid of 30mm base sides and 50mm long axis, is centrally placed on the top of a cube of 50mm long edged. Draw the isometric view of the pair.
4 ] A triangular pyramid of 30 mm base sides and 50 mm long axis, is centrally placed on the top of a cub of 50 mm long edges. Draw the isometric view of the pair.
Solution steps
- To draw isometric of a cube is simple. draw it as usual.
- For the pyramid as it's base is an equilateral triangle, it can not be drawn directly, support of its Tv is required.
- So draw a triangle as a Tv, Separately, and name various points as shown. After this place it on the top of the cube as shown.
- Then add height from its center and complete its isometric as shown.
5 ] A square plate is pierced through centrally by a cylinder that comes out equally from both faces of the plate. Its FV & TV are shown. Draw isometric view.
solution steps:
- First draw isometric of its base with a given diameter of 30mm.
- Then draw the same shape as a top, 70mm above the base cylinder center.
- Then the square plate at the top to 30mm from the base and again draw the square at 10mm above the previous square.
- Join with the proper base corners.
6 ] A circular plate is pierced through centrally by a square pyramid which comes out equally from both faces of the plate. it's Fv & Tv are shown. Draw isometric view.
Refer to the previous one and try to solve it. change is it has a square pyramid instead of a cylinder.
6 ] A square pyramid of 40 mm base side and 60 mm axis is cut by an inclined section plane through the midpoint of the axis as shown. Draw the isometric view of a section view of the section of the pyramid.

Isometric Projections Of Sphere & Hemisphere
To draw isometric Projection Of a Sphere
- First draw isometric of square plate.
- locate its center. name it p.
- from p draw a vertical line upward, length 'r mm ', And locate the center of sphere C.
- ' C ' as the center, With radius ' R ' drawn circle.
- this is an isometric projection of a sphere.
Adopt the same procedure. Draw lower semicircle only. Then around 'C' construct rhombus of sides equal to the isometric diameter.
For this use iso-scale then construct ellipse in this rhombus as usual and complete isometric-projection of hemisphere.
1 ] A hemisphere is centrally placed on the top of a frustum of a cone. Draw isometric projections of the assembly.
